Our story
In 2020, a visionary idea took root: to create a unique recreational space in Kenya where children could learn about nature through play. For subsequent years, the Anzania team dedicated themselves to bringing this dream to life.
We were determined to find a site that not only met our functional needs but also presented an opportunity for ecological restoration and rewilding. We sought a degraded landscape—perhaps a former quarry scarred by extraction, an industrial site left barren, or another area impacted by human activity—that could be transformed into a thriving natural space. This commitment to healing the land and strengthening biodiversity became central to our vision.
Simultaneously, the team forged partnerships with experts, including architects, landscape designers, botanists, and playground designers, to bring our vision to life. Together, we crafted an engaging experience journey and designed a physical space that would inspire and educate visitors.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, ensuring legal compliance and sustainability was paramount. The project was registered as a charity in Kenya, with a commercial sister company, and gained foundation status in the Netherlands and 501C3 status in the US.
our vision
As an Eco Park & “Natural Future Museum” we are committed to the appreciation and protection of our natural world. Our mission is to blend entertainment and education to tell a narrative of hope and possibility, inspiring young people to reconnect with nature and take an active role in preserving our planet.
We believe that education serves as the bedrock for meaningful change. We aspire to create an inspirational environment and a supportive community that encourages young people to help shape a brighter future. We aim to serve as a hub for environmental awareness, providing a space where children can come together to play, explore and learn at the same time.
Anzania sets out to enrich the lives of children with memorable learning experiences and simultaneously help nurture a connection to nature and a commitment to its preservation. We create unique sensory experiences that connect minds, touch hearts, and activate hands to achieve this.
Anzania is a place where children can experience the wonders of our planet and learn how to protect it.
By offering a space to re-imagine our relationship with nature, we inspire children to drive positive change.
Our story is one of hope and possibility.
We believe
Our commitment to harmony with nature guides our work in three key areas:
Construction
We believe in building in harmony with nature. Our projects are designed to minimize environmental impact and celebrate the natural beauty of the site. By selecting sustainable materials, employing eco-friendly construction techniques, and respecting the local ecosystem, we strive to create structures that are both functional and environmentally responsible.
Play
By nurturing the innate curiosity, creativity, and resilience of children, we cultivate a generation that is motivated to seek innovative solutions and make sustainable choices. Play should not be dismissed as “just fun,” it is a vital activity for children to learn about and interact with their world. Play supports children in gaining the mental, physical, and social skills necessary to succeed in their adult lives.
Learning
Kenya is at the forefront of the global triple environmental crisis; climate pollution and loss of biodiversity. We believe that education is crucial to securing a more sustainable future. Anzania provides an inclusive space for children to engage in conversations about the environment and we show them that everyone, irrespective of age, can be changemaker
